Son of European
immigrants he was born in Venezuela in 1956. He studied
elementary and high school in Caracas and graduated as bachelor
in science. At the same time, between 1973 and 1976 he began
studying painting with the Spanish painter Alfonso De la Vega,
nephew of the famous Spanish painter José María Sert.
Then he is also a student of advertising drawing and design,
marketing and decoration in several academies in Caracas.
Looking for new knowledge he went to Spain and studied in
different art academies, including Fine Arts Circle and Arts and
Crafts workshop Academy in which he studied ceramic, fashion
design, photography, museum design and organization and
landscape painting. He concludes his staying at Spain studying
at the famous painter Rogelio García Vázquez’ atelier who
transmitted Norberto his knowledge. This mutual comprehension
between teacher and student leads Norberto D’Abreu to a
symbiosis that constitutes his particular and beautiful style.
He returns to Venezuela and begins different expositions, by
himself and collective ones, inside and outside the country and
obtains publics’ acknowledgment as an artist with a great
knowledge of color and forms, allowing the observer to really
feel the light and emotions that his characters transmit. |
